My vision for the Parish
Strengthening community. Loneliness is a significant problem across our community – particularly the elderly, new parents and ‘empty nesters’. I would work with others to address this at a Parish level and via island-wide support systems.

Traffic/parking/road safety – Consultation for Langley residents –by working together and sharing ideas we can find innovative solutions. DfI should be prioritising District 2 for road improvements. A safety audit of the roads around schools and residential areas in the Parish is needed, I would seek to work with relevant charities and States departments.

I would continue to organise or help with Parish events and plan to establish a community end-of-term Summer picnic in the district.

Safeguarding and optimising our natural environment. Easier recycling. I would oppose any reduction of green space. I would work to provide activities for families so they can make the best use of outdoor areas.

Representing you in the States Assembly
Education, children and families –More choice in location and type of schooling. More focus on wellbeing and reduce excessive testing. Support teachers and aim for an innovative, creative education system utilising international best practice. Assessing possible subsidies for high-quality childcare. Sustainable university funding. I support the work of the Children’s Commissioner.

Equality – Improved parental leave, flexible working for both parents. I am currently undertaking work to establish the extent of the gender pay gap locally.

Wellbeing and mental health – Further improvements to mental health services, reductions in waiting times, more resources for children, new parents and the elderly. A focus on prevention. Review access to GPs and dentistry.

Life in Jersey –

  • Challenge any further cuts to police numbers.
  • Our tax system needs to be reviewed to assess the balance of tax intake from families/individuals/businesses, and ensure it is sustainable, simple and fair.
  • I am opposed to ‘stealth taxes’.
  • Interesting and creative job opportunities – I would support the finance industry and encourage hospitality, digital and small businesses.
  • A points-based system of population control should be considered.
