Election Reform Proposals – PPC to hold public meetings

May 15, 2019 by Vote Jersey

The Privileges and Procedures Committee (PPC) will be embarking on a series of public meetings during the next few weeks to talk to Islanders about their Election Reform proposals.

PPC Chairman Deputy Russell Labey explained “We want to talk to people about the proposals, which are in response to the recommendations made by the Election Observers who came to Jersey during last year’s elections.”

“The purpose of the presentation is to explain our proposals, how they were arrived at, how we envisage them working to the benefit of democracy in the Island and then take questions and hear the views of Parishioners”.

The dates for the public meetings, which will be from 7.30pm until 9pm, are as follows –

  • Monday 20th May – St. Clement’s Parish Hall
  • Tuesday 21st May – St. John’s Parish Hall
  • Wednesday 22nd May – Assembly Rooms, Town Hall, St. Helier
  • Thursday 23rd May – Trinity Parish Hall
  • Friday 24th May – Communicare, St Brelade
  • Tuesday 28th May – St. Lawrence Parish Hall
  • Wednesday 29th May – St. Ouen’s Parish Hall
  • Thursday 30th May – St. Martin’s Public Hall
  • Friday 31st May – St. Saviour’s Parish Hall
  • Monday 3rd June – Grouville Parish Hall
  • Monday 10th June – St. Mary’s Parish Hall
  • Tuesday 11th June – St. Peter’s Parish Hall

The proposals seek to make the voting districts across the Island more equal and ensure that all voters have the same voting power.
