PRE-POLL voting at St. Paul’s Centre in St. Helier will close at 2pm on Monday 14th May 2018.
Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart, who manages vote.je, said she was pleased at the number of people who had already made use of pre-poll. She said: “Over 2000 Islanders have so far pre-poll voted. If you are going to be too busy on Wednesday to vote and you registered before 9th April, then you can simply go along to St. Paul’s Centre before 2pm on Monday to cast your vote. Please bring photographic identification with you, such as your driving licence or passport.”
“We all lead busy lives and it’s not always easy to get to your Parish Hall or district polling station on election day.” Lisa said “Pre-poll allows everyone to vote in one place, no matter which Parish or district you live in, but you must have been registered to vote before 9th April!”
A weekend pre-poll station will also be available for all Islanders at Communicare, St Brelade from 10am-1pm on Saturday 12th May 2018.
Islanders can also turn out to vote on election day on Wednesday 16th May 2018 when polling stations will be open across the Island from 8 am to 8 pm. To find out where your polling station is, or for more information about this year’s elections, please visit vote.je.
“When you vote, the ballot papers will be different colours, Senators are white, Connétables are blue and Deputies are green. You do not have to use all of your votes. You can vote for just one candidate if you wish. Jersey has such a small population that every single vote really can make a difference” Lisa said. “Don’t let others choose on your behalf, make sure you vote!”
