The majority of Islanders believed that a Connétable should automatically become a States member upon election by their Parish.
The minority vote was ‘No’
A minority voted to remove the automatic right of the Connétables (Constables) to become members of the States upon election by their Parish.
A minority of Islanders thought that Connétables should not automatically become a States member upon appointment as the Parish Connétable. They believed that, to become a States member as well as a Parish Connétable, they should be required to stand for election to the States.
