Voter registration
Voter registration in Jersey is currently on an opt-in basis. Every year the Parishes send residents a statement to check and return to confirm their inclusion on the electoral register.
Newly-eligible voters are encouraged to register as soon as they are able to. If you are not sure whether or not you are already registered you should contact your Parish of residence to check. If you have moved house since the last election, you need to register in your new Parish of residence.
The Government of Jersey is progressing work to enable automatic voter registration. The aim is for all eligible voters to be automatically registered in time for the 2026 elections. Vote.je looks forward to confirming any updates on this in due course.
Register to vote
Jersey’s next election will be in 2026. To be able to vote in Jersey elections you must be on the electoral register. There is no need to wait until 2026 – you can register now.
To be eligible to vote, you need to be over the age of 16 and have lived in Jersey for two years; or to have lived in Jersey for six months, plus a period that totals five years.
There are no nationality requirements to be a voter in Jersey.
There are three ways to register to vote:
