Three Ways You Can Vote

There are three ways you can vote in Jersey’s election: by post, by voting early at pre-poll, or in person on Election Day, Sunday 7 June.

All three options are available to every Islander who is eligible to vote, so you can choose the one that works best for you.

1. Postal Voting

Postal voting is one of three ways you can vote in the June 2026 Election.

It is a convenient option for voters who may be travelling, have mobility challenges, or prefer the flexibility of voting from the comfort of their own home. Voting by post is a great option for students from Jersey who are studying off-Island and do not want to miss out. It ensures your voice is heard, even if you cannot attend the polling station in person.

The postal voting application deadline closed on Thursday 30 April, however all of those that applied will receive their ballot paper in the post from Mid-May.

Once you have received your ballot paper, mark an ‘x’ in the box alongside the name(s) of your preferred candidate(s), or ‘none of the candidates’ if this is available and your preferred option.

Completed ballot papers must be returned in the sealed envelope provided to the Judicial Greffe by 12 noon on Election Day, Sunday 7 June, to be included in the count.

Islanders who do not register for a postal vote by Thursday 30 April can still vote in person at the Pre‑Poll Voting Station at St Paul’s Centre, or at their Polling Station on Election Day.

Important:

  • Once registered for postal voting, voters will be disqualified from voting in person at the polling station unless they take the postal ballot papers that were originally sent to them to the polling station. No additional ballot papers will be provided at the polling station.
  • If your address changes after applying for a postal vote, it is your responsibility to inform the Postal & Pre-Poll Voting Manager by emailing VotingApplications@courts.je or calling +44 1534 441300.

2. Early Voting (Pre-Poll)

Early voting (pre‑poll) is open to all voters, regardless of which Constituency they live in, and provides a convenient, flexible way to take part in the democratic process from Tuesday 26 May to Monday 1 June. It allows you to vote ahead of Sunday 7 June at a time that best fits your schedule, especially if you’re unable to make it to a polling station on the day.

The pre‑poll voting station is at St Paul’s Centre, Dumaresq St, St Helier, Jersey, JE2 3RL.

You can vote early on the following dates:

Date Time
Tuesday 26 May 8:45am – 5pm
Wednesday 27 May 8:45am – 5pm
Thursday 28 May 8:45am – 5pm
Friday 29 May 8:45am – 5pm
Monday 1 June 8:45am – 12 noon
Voter ID

Please bring photo ID (passport/driving licence) with you when attending the pre-poll station as this will be the quickest way to check you in and receive your ballot papers.

If you don’t have a passport or driving licence, please take an alternative form of ID (this could include a work ID, a phone that allows you to login to Yoti/Jersey Me, utility bill dated within the last week months, etc.).

If you arrive without any ID, the Electoral Administrator will seek to verify your identity using their Parish records, but please note this may take a little longer.

Disability – friendly

If you have mobility or additional needs and require assistance, please contact the Judicial Greffe on 01534 441300 in advance to arrange support.

Pre-Poll staff will be based in the pre‑poll room upstairs, which is accessible via a staircase or lift, with signage from the ground floor.

If you wish to vote at St. Paul’s Centre when there are fewer people, the quieter times are generally before 10am and later in the afternoon.

The following accessibility aids will be available on request. Please speak to the Pre-Poll Manager) and they will help you:

  • Portable LED lamps (for low levels of lighting in the polling booth)
  • Ballot paper magnifier
  • Coloured overlays

Assistance dogs are permitted inside the polling station.

If you need to use a screen reader or other assistive technology you’ve brought with you, or you need help completing your ballot paper, please speak to the Pre-Poll Manager.

Parking at St. Paul’s Centre and the surrounding area

There will be up to three spaces available for those that may require parking due to mobility needs, however access to these spaces need to be pre-arranged.

If you require assistance, please contact the Judicial Greffe on 01534 441300 in advance so that they can pre-book a date and time to help support your visit.

There are disabled spaces on New Street and on Dumaresq Street, which are either side of St. Paul’s Centre.

Sand Street is the closest public car park which also has a dedicated level for disabled parking and access to shopmobility.

Pre-poll home visit

If you are eligible to vote in the election but are unable to attend the Pre-Poll Voting Office due to illness, disability, or illiteracy (as set out under Article 42(11) of the Elections (Jersey) Law 2002), you may request a home visit from an Officer of the Judicial Greffe to enable you to cast your vote.

To approve a home visit, the Judicial Greffier must be satisfied that applying for a postal vote would not have resolved your inability to vote; that it would not have been reasonable to expect you to apply for a postal vote; or that you could not reasonably have foreseen that you would be unable to vote in person.

Please note that the Pre-Poll Voting Office will be located at St Paul’s Centre in St Helier and will be open from 26 May to 29 May, between 8:45am and 5pm, and on 1 June from 8:45am until 12 noon.

To request a home visit, please download and complete the form below, then return a scanned copy by email to VotingApplications@courts.je, or post it to the Postal & Pre-Poll Voting Manager, Judicial Greffe, Royal Court House, Royal Square, St Helier, JE1 1JG.

Applications must be received by 12 noon on Friday 29 May (applications received after this date may not be able to be processed).

3. Voting on Election Day

Polling Stations will be open between 8am and 8pm on Election Day, Sunday 7 June 2026.

You can only vote at the polling station assigned to your registered address and Constituency, so it’s important to check where to go before heading out to vote.

FAQs for Election Day

Do I need to bring ID and proof of address with me when I go to the polling station?

Please bring photo ID with you to your polling station (passport/driving licence) as this will be the quickest way to check you in and receive your ballot papers.

If you don’t have a passport or driving licence, please take an alternative form of ID (this could include a work ID, phone that allows you to login to Yoti/Jersey Me, utility bill dated within the last 3 months, etc.).

If you arrive without any ID, the Electoral Administrator will seek to verify your identity using their parish records, however, please note, this may take a little longer.

How do I know which Constituency I live in?

Enter your postcode in the Constituency Finder, select your address and your Constituency will be presented on screen.

The Parish of St Helier website also has a Constituency map which shows the boundaries on its Election 2026 page.

I asked for a postal vote but now I want to vote in person. Can I do this?

You can do this.

Simply take your postal voting pack with you to your polling station on Election Day – including your ballot papers. See one of the officials at the polling station and you will be able to use your postal ballots to vote in person. You will not be issued with a new ballot paper, but must still use the one posted to you.

If you want to go to the Pre-poll station (early voting), you will need to hand your postal ballot to the Pre-poll manager.

What time do polling stations open and close?

They open on Sunday 7 June from 8am to 8pm.

What do I do if I am sick on Election Day?

If you are sick, incapacitated or have challenges with literacy, or if you are a carer of someone who falls into these categories and cannot have voted by post, you can request a home visit.

Parishes can send an official to you to take your vote so that registered voters are not prevented from participating due to sickness.

Find all parish contact details.
