Postal voting: the option you didn’t know you needed

For many Islanders, getting to a polling station on Election Day isn’t always possible. Whether you’re travelling, studying off‑Island, have mobility challenges, or simply prefer the comfort and convenience of voting from home, postal voting offers a flexible way to make sure your voice is heard in the 2026 States Assembly Election.

Postal voting is available to all voters, and applications are now open for the election taking place on Sunday, 7 June 2026.

It’s a simple, accessible and reliable option – and choosing to vote by post means you won’t miss out, no matter where life takes you on polling day.

Why Choose Postal Voting?

Life doesn’t always line up neatly with Election Day, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from taking part in the democratic process.

Postal voting is particularly useful for:

  • Islanders who will be off‑Island on polling day
  • Students studying away from Jersey who still want their say in the election
  • Islanders with mobility challenges
  • Anyone who simply prefers the flexibility of voting from home

Every eligible Islander can – and should – take part in Jersey’s democratic process. Life commitments might make it difficult to reach the polling station but if you take the convenient option to vote by post it doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re planning to do on Election Day.

Key Dates You Need to Know

To make sure your postal vote is counted, it’s important to keep the following deadlines in mind:

1. Application Deadline

Completed and signed application forms must reach the Judicial Greffe by 12 noon on Thursday, 30 April 2026.

2. Ballot Paper Delivery

Ballot papers will be sent out from mid‑May 2026.

3. Returning Your Postal Vote

Your completed ballot must be returned in the sealed envelope provided to the Judicial Greffe by 12 noon on Sunday, 7 June 2026 to be included in the count.

These dates ensure you have plenty of time to complete and return your ballot – especially useful if you’ll be away from home.
