Angela Elizabeth Jeune

Candidate for Deputy St. Helier South

I am very pleased to have been selected as a Jersey Liberal Conservative (JLC) candidate for St. Helier South District.

This election is the start of a new era for politics in Jersey. The changes to the District boundaries and the loss of the Island wide vote which I regret, are causing much concern to the electorate. These changes have also highlighted the need for “political parties”, if, going forward, the huge problems facing Islanders and the incoming Assembly are going to be addressed successfully.  Please read our full manifesto on www.jlc.je

Background

Professional:

I am a retired dual registered nurse having spent many years, mostly in London NHS teaching hospitals, in both general and psychiatric services (including acute and high security environments) at senior management levels and Health Informatics at NHS Regional Level, including European and International Working Groups. I have a Certificate in Management Studies, Royal College of Nursing, and a Diploma in Using Information in Management (DipUIM) – University of Manchester.

I returned to Jersey in 1993 as the Assistant Director – Information Services, H&SS.

2008 – 2011 I was elected Deputy, St. Brelade  No. 1 District. During this time I was the Assistant Minister for Social Security and introduced “Meet the Assistant Minister” monthly meetings for all Islanders who had concern, questions or queries.  I have to say, I smile when I reflect on that now, as trying to get “personal contact” with staff at Government departments nowadays seems almost impossible.

During this term I was also a member of a several States Panels, Groups and Working Parties

 Personal:

I was born in Jersey and educated in New Zealand.  I married David here in Jersey in 1969 and like many young folk moved off the Island, in our case to England. I have always been a keen motorcyclist, enjoyed camping and as I enjoy being on the sea, on one occasion (2013) took part in an Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) from Gran Canary to St. Lucia.  However, once in a lifetime was sufficient!

  • I am a committee member – Age Concern, Jersey
  • A member and Past Hon. President of the Royal Commonwealth Society(RCS) Jersey Branch, also past Hon. Regional Co- coordinator (RCS – Europe)
  • Member of the Irish Hospitalite of Lourdes
  • Member of St. Helier Yacht Club
  • Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal assistant
  • Previous member and Hon. Past President – Soroptimist International of Jersey
  • Previous member of IMIA and EFMI (International and European Medical informatics) and other Medical and Nursing Informatics Groups

I trust you will consider me when placing your votes. I would be honoured to serve as your Deputy

JLC elected members will work in coalition with The Progress Party (TPP) elected members
