I am mum to three, a Nan of two and someone who has worked across tourism, hospitality, retail, and financial services. Whilst I’ve loved watching my family and community grow – life here has got much more expensive. I know what a tight budget feels like. I know what it means to need help and not know where to turn. Whilst there are some things that are out of our control, there are other things that the next government of Jersey could do to make your life more affordable.
During my many years as Deputy for St Helier South, I made it my business to be the person residents could reach. I have fought housing cases, challenged social security decisions, sat across the table from people who needed someone in their corner. Families. Pensioners, young Islanders.
You all matter and you all deserve a Deputy who will fight for you. That is not a promise.
My record is real: here are a few of my achievements.
- I extended parental leave to one year for both parents.
- Helped introduce redundancy pay.
- Free smear tests, and free sanitary products in every school.
- Breastfeeding rights for working women,
- Kept the post office delivering five days a week,
- Outlawed ‘no children’ clauses in residential leases.
- Stop a planned 1000 space multi-story carpark in ANN STREET
These changes were not handed to me. They all took persistence, negotiation, and refusing to back down.
If ELECTED, I will push for fairer treatment of working pensioners, and better tax breaks for all Pensioners.
- I will fight to extend free TV licences to more over-75s,
- Extend affordable childcare, and stronger family support,
- Better vocational pathways that give young people real options from the age of 14, not just 18.
Jersey is too expensive, the government is wasting too much money, our economy is not making enough. We cannot afford more of the same. At every election, a thousand promises are made, almost none are delivered. That is why I am endorsing the priorities of Value Jersey Value for money: Cheaper choices, including cheaper supermarkets, cheaper on Island travel, and cheaper loans; cutting government waste; rebooting the local economy so that every Islander can earn, save and get their first home. With the right team working together in the Assembly, these commitments are deliverable.
I know which side I am on. I am on the side of Islanders who need a government that listens and delivers.
I have enjoyed many years serving our community. I am not done yet. I have never stopped fighting for the people of Jersey, and I am ready to fight again.
