Community, collaboration, compassion

My vision is for a community working together to build a healthier, happier, more resilient population, making Jersey an even more attractive place to live, work, bring up children, invest and do business.

We need sustainable solutions to challenges left too long in the “too difficult” pile, carefully balancing fiscal prudence with delivering for Islanders and protecting our environment. Government should be an enabler, creating and nurturing conditions for businesses, charities and individuals to thrive.

The parishes of St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter – each unique but with shared opportunities and challenges – have an important role to play, within a gently modernised parish system which respects history and tradition but embraces fresh ideas.

Proven track record

Deputy for St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter since 2022, I work positively, transparently and collaboratively. My work as an assistant minister for sport which led to a strategic reset of Jersey Sport is an example. I also secured funding which increased access to IVF treatment, Jersey’s top athletes now benefit from a performance sport programme developed under my leadership, and my Scrutiny work has been varied and impactful, on women’s health, ADHD medication access and family-friendly laws. I’ve held regular constituency surgeries in all three parishes and supported parishioners with casework weekly.

There are five interconnected pillars to my manifesto: a strong and vibrant economy, the cost of living, healthy happy communities, families of the future, and long-term sustainable decision making.

Key commitments

  • Supporting productivity-led growth and economic diversification which complements our established industries and enhances life in Jersey.
  • Strengthening ties with Channel Island partners. Jersey’s Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, launched under my leadership, can develop new positive links with Guernsey.
  • A temporary 10p per litre fuel duty cut to offset spiralling costs.
  • A fair deal for Islanders who achieve a full Social Security contribution record before reaching pensionable age.
  • Increasing investment in preventative health from 2% of health spending to 6%.
  • Championing sport and physical activity to transform lives, strengthen communities and promote Jersey internationally.
  • A birthrate taskforce to tackle barriers for those wanting to start or grow their families.
  • Widening the assisted purchase home ownership scheme criteria so Islanders can buy a family home, including in our parishes, while growing their family.
  • Work with the Connétables to strengthen our local communities, supporting a sense of belonging and place. This includes continuing to protect our countryside and coastline, particularly our iconic bays of St Ouen, Grève de Lecq and Plémont.
  • Building on my successful IVF proposition to ensure fair access to fertility treatment for all who need it.
  • Working collaboratively to make evidence-based decisions which balance community priorities with fiscal prudence.
