Preserving our parish, protecting our future

St Mary is not just where I live. It is part of who I am.

My family’s roots here stretch back centuries. I grew up with a deep sense of belonging, where neighbours knew each other, where people looked out for one another, and where the parish felt like a true community. Many of you will remember that feeling too.

And many of you will feel what I feel now. That something has changed.

I speak to people across the parish and I hear the same concerns. Young families struggling to find a home. Whilst parents and grandparents wave goodbye to their families. Older residents feeling isolated. Volunteers giving their time but not always getting the support they deserve.

You are not wrong to feel that way. And you are not alone.

I founded the St Mary youth club in 2004 with my family because I believed then, as I do now, that when people feel connected, they thrive. My family and supporters created a space where young people felt safe, supported, and part of something. That same spirit is what I want to bring back to our parish.

As your Constable, my focus will always be St Mary and the people who call it home.

That means supporting first time buyers with parish connections, so our children have a chance to stay. It means creating better support for our elderly and vulnerable, so no one feels forgotten or alone. It means protecting our green fields from overdevelopment, so the character of our parish is not lost. Especially as government has plans that threaten to change the rural landscape forever.

It also means bringing people back together.

I plan to run two community events per year, a parish picnic with music etc and an outdoor Christmas carol service where both old and new members of the community and reinstate that feeling of connection that we all need and strive for, because strong communities are built through shared moments.

We also need pride in our parish again. Cleaner and safer roads, and support for those who give their time to serve others, especially our amazing honorary police out. Working closely with parish staff, volunteers, I will focus on keeping St Mary a place where people feel respected, connected and proud to live.

My background in leadership, strategy and communication has taught me how to bring people together and get things done. But more importantly, I care deeply about this parish and the people in it.

This is about all of us.

If you feel the same, I ask for your support.
