I am standing for election to the States Assembly to contribute constructively to addressing the challenges facing Jersey. Independent survey evidence shows clearly that Islanders are most concerned about the cost of living, alongside housing, healthcare and confidence in government. These concerns will guide my priorities.
I was born and educated in Jersey, and I care deeply about the Island and its future. My career has taken me from working in a local café and pub to serving in senior roles as chief executive and chair of public bodies, charities and businesses in both Jersey and the UK. This experience has given me a practical understanding of how decisions are made and, importantly, how they can be effectively delivered.
I believe Jersey benefits most from politicians who are willing to listen, work collaboratively and take balanced decisions in the long-term interests of the Island. We need government that is competent, focused and able to deliver high-quality public services efficiently. We also need to address issues in a timely way, rather than allowing problems to build.
Public finances are under increasing pressure, and it is important that expenditure is carefully managed. At the same time, we must ensure that essential services are protected and that support is directed to those who need it most, particularly given the pressures many Islanders face with the cost of living.
A strong economy underpins everything we do. Supporting existing businesses, particularly in financial services, while encouraging new and innovative sectors, will be key to maintaining Jersey’s prosperity and funding public services.
I am standing as an independent candidate. If elected, I will work with all members of the Assembly, as well as with businesses and the voluntary sector, to help deliver practical solutions and maintain the Island’s quality of life.
My priority is to help address the cost of living, which affects Islanders across all age groups and incomes. This requires a coordinated approach:
- Supporting effective and responsible government
- Maintaining sustainable public finances
- Strengthening the Island’s economic competitiveness
- Reducing unnecessary administrative burdens on businesses
- Supporting appropriate development while protecting our environment
- Promoting a high-quality education system to equip young people for the future
- Increasing the availability of affordable housing, particularly for younger Islanders
- Supporting the delivery of the new hospital and a greater focus on preventative healthcare
- Preserving Jersey’s unique character, including its parish system and natural environment
Jersey is a special place, with a strong sense of community and identity. I would see it as a privilege to serve and to work with others to ensure the Island continues to thrive for current and future generations.
