My name is Mark Labey, and it has been an incredible four years serving the Parishioners of Grouville and it would be my honour to continue representing and working on your behalf for a further term.
Some of the key achievements over the last 4 years have included:
- Replacing the Parish Hall Roof.
- We have refurbished the Hall itself with a new lighting system.
- We commissioned, and have adopted, some of the findings of the Financial Review Working group which have tightened up the financial governance of the Parish.
- Started a Risk Register and resolved most of these within the term, creating written agreements with those we needed to have agreements with.
- Repaired the Church and Cemetery gates.
- Completed Roads projects including the La Cache des Pres drainage and resurfacing project.
- Created more Reserves to avoid spikes in the rates, these reserves having paid for the roof and hall refurbishment.
- Consolidated the Parish Trust funds so we are in a better place to utilise these funds when they become available.
- We are currently taking on the running and maintenance of the Sandy Park play area.
If I am elected, I will endeavour to:
- See through the Parish Speed Review to its conclusion including the Green Lane Scheme we have applied for that will allow safer travel from Gorey to Georgetown.
- Start on the electrification of our facilities and the instalment of Solar panels on our properties.
- Continue to reduce the Risks to the parish
- Continue to value and appreciate the many volunteers who work for Grouville.
Politically I will strive to:
- Maintain my position on Scrutiny and other Committees
- Continue to vote for and encourage the commencement of the long overdue Hospital Project.
- Continue to encourage the Government to kerb its expenditure on ‘Nice to Have’ projects until the Hospital is underway.
- I will continue to be a voice in the Assembly that promotes more public access play and sporting facilities in the East of the Island.
- I will continue to support the Surgeries that our electoral district has once a month. These allow face to face engagement with our Parishioners, and I will maintain an ‘open door’ policy at the Parish Hall for anyone wanting to discuss any issues.
- I will continue to require the Council of Ministers to reduce management costs and Bureaucracy.
Grouville is a wonderful Community and I will do all I can to keep it the best we could wish for.
