It has been a privilege to listen to, serve, and stand up for St Brelade since 2008, and I am ready to continue working with our community to meet the challenges ahead.
These challenges include the economy, healthcare, and improving Jersey’s sea links. But most urgent is restoring public trust that government will always act responsibly and efficiently. Alongside this, we must address the cost of living and housing pressures to ensure that young people can stay in Jersey, working families can aspire, and all people have a good quality of life well into retirement.
Government Efficiency
The public sector is a force for good, but confidence must be rebuilt. Government must deliver value for money, operate efficiently, and put people at the heart of all services.
Public services must be modern, accessible, joined-up and built around people’s needs, especially in healthcare. This requires clear outcomes, decisive action, and reduced duplication. Reform Jersey has the skills, tools and determination to turn the tide and deliver this through our party politics: stronger together, with independent thinking and aligned by shared values.
Health Reform
There is much good practice at Jersey General Hospital, but the service is under pressure. Years of underinvestment and outdated systems have led to longer waiting times. Patients report being encouraged towards private care for faster treatment. This is not acceptable and risks creating a two-tier system where some are left behind. Part of the solution is greater investment in preventative care and better IT systems to safely share data across departments and with GPs.
St Brelade Focus
We have much to celebrate in our parish. I want to build on its strengths by improving walking and cycling routes, particularly in La Moye and La Pulente, and reviewing road safety across the parish.
I remain a strong champion of our natural environment and will continue to oppose inappropriate development in our parish and along the coast.
Why vote for me?
My 18 years as an active States Member and my role as Chair of Economic Scrutiny have taught me how to build consensus across the political spectrum, to listen and deliver results.
In voting for me, you will have someone who is both an independent thinker and capable of working in a party-political context. In just two years, Reform Jersey has delivered in key areas. We have expanded Pension Plus, more affordable GP visits, introduced the young person’s bus card, enhanced tenants’ rights, and more childcare provision. We will continue to deliver more.
I bring the experience, energy and commitment required for the job. Working with John Young and my Reform Jersey colleagues, we will provide the practical, thoughtful and effective leadership that Jersey needs and deserves.
