I have loved St Clement since moving here and attending Le Rocquier. I adore our culture and community, and my job working with small businesses for Jersey Telecom. I want mine, and my peers’ futures to be here.
Unfortunately, as I’ve followed local politics, it’s become clear that our Island often works against working people.
I personally know too many young people who plan to leave the Island due to cost-of-living and a lack of opportunities. I speak to local businesses every day and know how hard they struggle with staffing and rent. I also listen to pensioners who, after working hard and giving back throughout their lives, are now struggling to pay their bills.
We need change, and I am ready to fight for it. That is why I am asking to represent you.
My goals as Deputy are to:
- Stand up for the under-represented voices in our Parish.
- Restore trust, accountability, and hope in our politics.
- Make St Clement and Jersey the best possible place to live, work, and do business.
I will act to ensure the long-standing issues such as housing and health are addressed. We also need to invest in our Islanders today to ensure the challenges of tomorrow are met, so Jersey is a sustainable and equitable place for future generations.
I will encourage government to:
- Invest in young people by making quality education and career opportunities available on-Island.
- Invest in families by providing quality childcare and suitable housing.
- Invest in our community by promoting our culture and delivering key infrastructure.
- Invest in local businesses by ensuring they’re prioritised to deliver projects.
- Give back to pensioners by expanding access to the Pension Plus scheme to benefit from reduced cost dental, optical, and chiropody care.
To achieve this, we need a fair and balanced tax system that does not prioritize the highest earners over working people. Our tax plan will reduce the burden on middle earners and protect those on low incomes.
It’s deeply important to me that St. Clement remains a beautiful, friendly, and accessible place for everyone.
For the Parish I will:
- Develop Le Squez Youth Centre while ensuring alternative spaces are available.
- Ensure our buses are economical and reliable.
- Provide safe active-travel routes.
- Protect our green spaces.
As a Reform Jersey candidate, I know my ideas will have the backing of members with a proven record in government of delivering a better deal for tenants and families. Additionally they have demonstrated how we can work across the Assembly to deliver on our promises.
Please reach out if you have any questions and consider voting for me and my Reform Jersey colleagues on Sunday 7 June.
