I am standing in this election because Jersey needs to refocus on what matters: affordability, accountability, and delivering results.
I was first elected in 2014 and served two terms, including as Minister for Children and Education, Assistant Chief Minister, and Assistant Minister for Social Security. I have worked at the centre of government and understand both how decisions are made and where the system is failing.
In recent years, politics has become distracted, while the real issues facing Islanders have worsened.
The cost of living is rising. Government spending continues to grow. Major projects remain uncertain. Businesses face increasing pressure. Trust in government has declined.
Jersey needs to get back to basics.
Cost of Living
Families are under pressure from rising energy bills, food costs and housing. I will push for targeted support, stronger oversight of essential services and greater transparency in pricing.
I support fair wages, but increases must be balanced and sustainable, so they do not simply drive higher prices. We need policies that support both workers and businesses.
Public Finances
Jersey is running a structural deficit, spending more than it earns year after year. This is not sustainable.
It is clear we have hit a point where raising duties is only increasing costs, pushing up inflation and public sector wages, without meaningfully improving finances or reducing pressure on taxpayers.
I will work to restore discipline to public finances, control the size of government, reduce waste, and prioritise essential services. Strong finances are the foundation of a stable Island.
Accountability in Government
Power and accountability must sit together.
Ministers are elected to lead but currently lack clear authority to hold senior officials accountable for delivery. I will push to strengthen transparency, performance oversight, and democratic control so that all levels of government are properly answerable to Islanders.
Environment
Protecting our environment matters, but current policies in the Carbon Neutral Roadmap are already missing targets and risk becoming unaffordable while pushing costs onto islanders and businesses. I support a more practical approach that protects our countryside while avoiding unnecessary costs for households and businesses already under financial pressure.
Supporting Agriculture and Fisheries
Agriculture, fishing and small businesses are under pressure. I will support practical steps such as setting up parish markets to allow locals to buy directly, encouraging and strengthening food security to support local producers and reduce reliance on imports and reduce islanders living costs.
Jersey need a reset. It needs delivery, discipline and common sense brough back to our finances.
I am standing to bring experience, independence and focus back into government.
Please consider me for your vote on June 7th
