JEA statement on the publication of expenses declarations

The Jersey Electoral Authority is today publishing expenses declarations that it has received to date from the recent Island-wide election.

There is no time set for publication in the Public Elections (Expenditure and Donations) (Jersey) Law of 2014.

The same law requires all candidates standing for election and all third parties to submit expenses declarations within 4 weeks of the election. The JEA has undertaken an initial review of the declarations received. A more granular audit by the Chief Internal Auditor’s office is now underway.

Where a candidate has filed two declarations, namely an original declaration and an amended declaration (which is permitted under the law), both declarations are being published.

The information contained in the published declarations is reproduced exactly as received by the JEA, without prejudice, alteration, verification or endorsement. The JEA accepts no responsibility or liability for the accuracy, completeness, or contents of any declaration.
