The Parish Hall has some parking on site, with additional accessible parking identified to either side of the Honorary Police entrance area x 2 spaces or between the rear of the entrance lobby/toilet and the Lodge x 3 spaces, these are large parking areas on level ground.
There is no drop off point marked but dropping off directly in front of the main entrance is possible.
There are slopes up to the building from the car park.
Entry and exit will be through the same door, which has two steps up into a porch and then a further two steps inside.
A large portable ramp will be put in place connecting the two sets of stairs for the duration of polling day to enable all users, as well as wheelchair users, ease of access, personnel will be present to assist.
The entrance doors are wide double doors which will be held open.
There is a lip between the step and the mat inside the door, this could be problematic particularly when exiting.
The exit is through the same door as entered through. There is no one way system. However, the side entrance ramp of the Honorary Police will be available for wheelchair users, due to width restrictions of the internal corridors this may hinder accessing the building for larger wheelchairs.
There are external steps for emergency use.
Fire evacuation chairs are also available and recognisable.
On entry to the right there is a lift for access to the first floor.
Most voters will go through another set of double doors (held open) to reach the stairs for the first floor.
The left hand side door (as viewed from the outside main door set) will be wedged open. The right hand door must be kept closed to allow for access into and out of the lift.
The stairs are a good width/tread/depth and have contrasting nosings, but there is only one handrail which stops short.
The hall is large, and circulation for people with mobility issues should be good.
There is good natural light in the room.
Step-free access:
On entry, to the right there is a lift for access to the first floor, but it is challenging to use it independently as the door does not open automatically, it needs to be pulled back and is heavy; the button to ascend/descend needs to be continually pressed to reach the required floor, requiring strength and control of movement.
Staff will be on hand to help on the day.
There is a hearing loop available in the main hall.
Assistance dogs are permitted inside the polling station.
If you need to use a screen reader or other assistive technology you’ve brought with you, please speak to a Parish Official (Autorisé or Adjoint).
You can bring someone with you to the polling station, but if you need help filling in your ballot paper, a Parish Official (Autorisé or Adjoint) will help you.
If you need to use a coloured overlay, a small LED lamp for extra lighting or a magnifier for your ballot paper, please speak to a Parish Official (Autorisé or Adjoint) and they will help you.
There is one accessible toilet on the first floor that doubles as the female toilet. Signage is present.
Automatic lights and a fan have now been fitted as well as a disabled alarm and repeater alarm sound unit.
