Ensuring Accessibility on Vote.je

We are committed to ensuring that Vote.je is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability, technology or experience. This Accessibility Statement outlines the steps we take to make our website usable for everyone and explains how you can contact us if you experience any accessibility issues.

Our accessibility commitment

We aim to meet the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to a AA standard, as referenced on the States Assembly website. The site is built using HTML5 and CSS3, and designed to work across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

Browsers and devices

We work to ensure that the website functions well on all common browsers and devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

Keyboard navigation

We provide logical and consistent navigation for anyone using a keyboard, including clear structure and site search functionality. If you use a screen reader with keyboard commands, the following are typically supported across our site

  • Press H to move forward through headings
  • Shift + H to move back through headings
  • Numbers 1–6 to navigate between heading levels
  • Insert + F5 for a list of form controls
  • Insert + F6 for a list of headings
  • Insert + F7 for a list of links

Images

All essential images include descriptive alt text so screen reader users can understand the content.

Changing text size, colours or fonts

We do not offer built‑in alternative colour schemes, but you can adjust font sizes, colours and contrast through your browser settings. Most modern browsers also allow zooming up to at least 200–400% without loss of content.

Assistive technology compatibility

We aim to ensure that the website works with a wide range of modern assistive technologies, including screen readers, speech recognition software and screen magnifiers. If you experience any issues when using assistive tools, please let us know at contact@vote.je so we can investigate.

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always working to improve accessibility. If you find any problems or need content in a different format (such as large print, audio or accessible PDF), please contact: contact@vote.je

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Vote.je is committed to meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards. As we develop and update the website, we continue to monitor accessibility and address any issues. Some external content embedded on the site (such as maps or social media posts) may have accessibility limitations that are outside our control, similar to those noted on the States Assembly site for embedded content
